Vision and Mission
Faith is the element that links our insignificant human dimension to the awesome and majestic godly dimension. By faith we enter this dimension, the fifth dimension – Quinta Dimensao - inaccessible to human reasoning.
Our vision is to provide help to the Portuguese speaking Countries and communities in Africa and around the world, as well we are to extend our contribution to every area around the globe in need of emergent humanitarian relief.
Our ultimate philosophy is to provide knowledge and faith in order to ignite change in those Countries and communites, but this change will come with comprehensive and tangible help. This is our mission, and we tend to deliver it in three different ways:
We support activities that will directly empower vulnerable groups. We base our support on the experience and priorities of local people, recognising that they are best placed to know the solutions to their own problems.
We work with and through others. We especially work through local partners, and our aim is to strengthen these partners through improving their skills, resources and systems so they can better help those in need.
We are a learning organisation. We seek to learn from our own experience, and from that of others and we are open to new ideas and new ways of working.
We will work with any communities regardless of their religion, race, ethnicity or gender. At the same time all of our work is guided by our Christian values.
We directly supply goods and services through local partner organisations (for example medical supplies, clothing in time of emergency and more)
We make grants to local partner organisations and monitor the performance of their work. Initially we are focusing on starter projects involving potable water.
We campaign to raise awareness in the UK about development and poverty issues. We are doing this in coalition with a range of other partners organisations.
We undertake research to better understand local needs and priorities so as to ensure that our aid is as effective as possible.
